Home nursing visits across Ho Chi Minh City

Nursing at home is rarely one visit. It is an injection every morning for a week, a dressing every second day, a line somebody has to flush and watch. Our nurses live in Ho Chi Minh City and hold practice licences, and we would like to plan the whole course with you before the first visit, so that each morning's care simply happens rather than being decided on the day. Please tell us the end date and the doctor's order, and we will build the rota backwards from them.

What a nurse may do is set by the order she is working to. Nobody will start a drip because a hotel manager suggested one, and nobody will continue an antibiotic course that has not been reviewed. Every visit is recorded. If the patient slips between visits — a fever climbing, a wound turning hot, less response than yesterday — please do not wait for the next appointment: the plan is the hospital and 115.

Areas we go to most

District 1 · Thao Dien · Binh Thanh · Phu My Hung

In the gated compounds of Thao Dien the real bottleneck is the guard's book. Register the nurse's name for the whole course at once, or every visit begins with a phone call from the gate.

Phu My Hung towers want visitors signed in at reception and often want the service lift. A nurse with a dressing kit passes easily; a nurse with a drip stand does not, unless the building knows she is coming.

A week of daily visits in District 1 is a traffic problem, not a nursing problem. Early-morning slots hold their time. Late-afternoon slots do not, and we would rather book the morning.

Households that already employ a helper usually want her taught, not replaced. The daily steps get written down in Vietnamese for her and in English for you, and we check what she did rather than what she was told.

If this is an emergency — trouble breathing, chest pain, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness or signs of a stroke — please call 115 or go to the nearest hospital first. Please do not wait for a home visit.

Questions we are asked

Questions we are asked

Can a nurse give the injections my doctor at home prescribed?

Bring the prescription, the drug and the written order, and a Vietnamese doctor reviews all three before anyone injects anything. The review is not a formality: doses, brand names and concentrations differ between countries, and a box bought over a counter here may not contain what your own doctor meant.

What if we need a nurse overnight?

Please mention it while the course is being planned. Overnight cover is something we like to arrange carefully and a little ahead, so that the same nurse can stay the whole night; if it cannot be staffed properly, we will tell you honestly rather than send someone for part of the night. A patient who needs watching until morning often needs a ward, and we would gently say so.
