Nurse at home in Da Lat
Nursing is never a single appointment; it is a run of them. An injection on a schedule, a dressing every second day, vitals morning and evening, a chart somebody actually reads. Our nurses live and work in Da Lat, so we plan the whole course with you in advance and, wherever we can, the same nurse comes back each time.
That continuity has a real benefit. Less gets lost in handover when the person who heard the doctor's orders on day one is the person taking the blood pressure on day six. To plan it well we kindly ask for a little notice: the length of the course, the address, who else is in the house, and the prescribing doctor's written orders before the first visit.

Cold evenings push blood pressure up in older patients who were steady at sea level, so we chart twice a day rather than once for the first week on the plateau.
Insulin and some antibiotics travel badly. A fridge in a hillside homestay that loses power in a storm is a genuine risk here, and the nurse asks to see it before anything is stored.
Families in this town are usually the second pair of hands, and most of them speak Vietnamese. Instructions get written in Vietnamese for the household and in English for the patient's own records.
If the orders run to only two or three injections, we may gently suggest a clinic in town, which could be simpler for you. We would rather give you that honest advice than arrange more than you need.

Questions we are asked
Questions we are asked
How long does a nurse stay in Da Lat?
As long as the orders run — a post-operative week, a ten-day course of injections, sometimes a month for a relative recovering at home. Our nurses live in Da Lat, so they can keep to the schedule day after day, and the doctor who wrote the orders reviews progress with you along the way.
Can the nurse decide which drug to give?
No. A nurse at home works to a doctor's written orders and records what was given, the dose and the response. Changes go back to the prescribing doctor first, and in Vietnam a prescription-only medicine needs that doctor's order rather than a nurse's judgement. Anything that looks like an allergic reaction stops the visit and goes to hospital.
What happens if the patient gets worse overnight?
The nurse calls the doctor on the case and, for anything that will not wait, takes the patient to Lam Dong General Hospital or calls 115. Having someone in the house is useful precisely because the change gets noticed early rather than at breakfast.
