IV fluids in Hai Phong: when we are the wrong call
Putting fluid back is usually a today problem, and a drip at home is rarely the fastest or safest answer when someone is acutely dehydrated. If you are vomiting, cannot keep water down and feel faint when you stand, the useful destination is the emergency department at Viet Tiep, not a booking form.
What we cover here is the planned half: an infusion course a doctor has already ordered, electrolytes for a patient we are following, fluids alongside wound or rehabilitation work during a nursing block. It is a sound choice in the cases where time itself is not the treatment.

Oral rehydration salts, sipped slowly and often, settle most travellers' diarrhoea with no cannula at all; the pharmacies along Lach Tray stock them.
Heat cases cluster around Do Son and the Cat Ba trails in June and July, when people walk further than they planned and drink less than they should.
Any drip runs against a doctor's written order, with the fluid, the rate and the patient's response logged on a sheet we leave in the house.
We do not offer vitamin or hangover infusions. There is no clinical reason to put a line into a healthy vein.
A drowsy child with a dry mouth who has stopped passing urine needs a hospital within the hour — 115, or straight to Viet Tiep, and no home visit should be waited for.

Can I book a vitamin drip after a long work trip?
No. Those infusions are a product rather than a treatment, and we do not stock them. If you are run down, an appointment that looks at sleep, iron and thyroid will serve you better.
My child has had diarrhoea for a day. Should we wait for a home drip?
Do not wait. Start oral rehydration solution in small sips now and have the child seen locally today. Sunken eyes, crying without tears, dry nappies or unusual sleepiness mean hospital immediately, by 115 if you cannot get there quickly.
